Sophia Bracy Harris was among authors around the region who recently participated in an author talk hosted by Dr. Vernet Nettles and Royston Publishing in advance of the 2nd Annual Montgomery Book Fest & Writing Expo, which will be held on March 11, 2023, from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Montgomery Cultural Arts Center. The event provides book lovers and published and unpublished writers opportunities to network with authors and writing coaches, purchase books from all genres and hone their skills through the writing expo. Thanks to everyone who attended our holiday book party at Martha's Place on Friday, December 9. Roughly 50 attended and had an opportunity to meet Sophia up close, ask questions, and enjoy delicious refreshments provided by Martha Hawkins, who served as the event host. Sophia recently connected with child care professionals across Alabama at Auburn University's 2022 Focus on Family Child Care Conference "Oceans of Opportunity for Family Child Care" on June 17-18 at the Auburn Marriott Opelika Resort and Spa at Grand National. Sophia opened the Saturday session with a keynote address on the important role of child care professionals and the impact they have on shaping a child's belief in themselves. She also shared stories from her memoir and encouraged attendees to remember self-care as they care for our children.
